The Circular Economy Development Center, administered by Circular Colorado, assists companies with circular business models by facilitating connections between manufacturers, processors, and recyclers and providing technical assistance and guidance throughout their business lifecycle – with the ultimate goal of establishing sustainable circular economies in Colorado.
This goal can only be realized when every business in Colorado is part of the circular ecosystem. While we have much work ahead, there are hundreds of local businesses that are moving us towards our ultimate goal. Here are a few companies that we want to recognize this month.
Reduce
Shoppers in Boulder and Denver who want to cut their weekly grocery waste to zero, can shop at Nude Foods Market. Instead of single-use food packaging, the store offers packaging that can be returned and used an infinite number of times.
Reuse
Got surplus yarn, fabric, or other art supplies? ReCreative Denver is a non-profit that turns waste into creativity! With the help of dedicated volunteers, materials are carefully sorted and prepared for resale at heavily discounted prices, making them accessible to artists, educators, and makers of all kinds. By donating, community members and local businesses alike reduce waste while supporting arts, education, and sustainability.
Compost
Scraps is a pioneering company providing composting services to single- and multi-family homes, restaurants, office buildings and more along the Front Range. Their biggest project lately is running the Zero Waste Valet program at DIA. Launched in June, the program recycles food scraps and more from concessionaires in Concourse B, where the most passengers are.
